ORGANIC COTTON IN PERU

In the south of Peru, not far from Lima, the capital city, we found a new organic cotton field.

The farmers have used certified seeds of Tanguis cotton variety, a long staple fiber used for thinners yarns and high quality cotton fabrics.

This year Control Union (Skal International) has started the inspections and monitoring the farming labors of these fields, with a transition status.

Our pumps and tractors have used cotton seed oil, as a new way to be more eco-friendly, when it works you can smell in the air a fried potatoes aroma.

The worms and bugs insects are controlled with quails and little wasps, as a natural an eco-friendly control of these plagues.

In few months, the cotton fiber of 90 hectares will be ready to be harvested and the next year the plan consists to have fields with more than 400 hectares of organic cotton.
